How the Tour Operates
- The tour is conducted by vehicle, with short outdoor stops when conditions are optimal for viewing and photography
- There is no mileage limit—our guides actively chase clear skies and strong aurora activity
- When necessary, we are fully prepared to drive 200–350 km or more to reach the best possible viewing conditions
Tour Area & Pickup
- Pickup and drop-off are provided within a 5 km radius of Ruka Ski Resort and a 5 km radius in Kuusamo
- This includes all major hotels
- If Northern Lights activity is favorable in the Ruka, Kuusamo, or Salla areas, we remain closer to these locations
- If conditions are better elsewhere, we may travel further north to areas such as Saariselkä, Sodankylä, or Levi, always prioritizing the best guest experience

This is a dedicated Northern Lights chase tour, offering maximum flexibility with unlimited rescheduling or a money-back guarantee if the Northern Lights are not seen.
Please note
A minimum of 2 people is required for this tour to take place on weekdays and Saturdays.
A minimum of 4 people is required for this tour to take place on Sundays and public holidays.
Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by adults paying the full price.
Please be ready and wait in your hotel lobby 10 minutes before your scheduled pickup time.
If we strongly believe that sky conditions and solar activity are not favorable for the night you booked, we will cancel the excursion and reschedule it for the following day at no extra charge.
If our professional photographer captures photos of the Northern Lights in their camera during your tour, it is considered as having seen the Aurora.
If the Northern Lights don’t appear (meaning our photographer couldn’t capture them that night), we’ll reschedule your excursion for the next day. We’ll continue to do so until you see the Aurora. However, if you don’t see the Northern Lights before leaving Ruka, we will reimburse you the full price of the activity.
The refund policy for the Guaranteed Northern Lights Tour outlined below is part of our Terms & Conditions for Online Booking and must be accepted at the time of booking.
Refund Policy
Departure time may be adjusted on the same day based on the company’s real-time observation of weather, cloud coverage, aurora activity, road safety, and operational planning. The final departure time will be informed shortly before departure. Departure time changes do not qualify for cancellation or refund.
This tour is a Northern Lights chasing activity. The tour duration may vary from 3 hours up to 7 hours, depending on conditions and there will be no food provided during the tour.
The company will do everything possible to maximise the chances of seeing the Northern Lights. Please note that their appearance and intensity depend on natural conditions and cannot be controlled.
The tour result is verified only by the company camera photos. If the company camera captures the Northern Lights at any time, the tour is considered successful and no refund will be provided.
No refund will be provided to a guest if they leave early, give up, request to return early, or refuse to continue for any personal reason.
If a guest chooses to leave the activity early, they are responsible for arranging and covering the cost of their own return transportation. The company will not provide a vehicle, guide, or any additional services for early departures.
Photography is required for verification purposes. Guests who refuse to be photographed or fail to cooperate with the guide-photographer will not be eligible for a refund.
The photographer on duty will provide a link to your photos within 72 hours and send it to the email address provided by the guest. Guests must ensure that they give a correct email address to the guide before the end of the tour.
If the company camera does not capture the Northern Lights on the first tour, guests may join a second tour free of charge the following day. If the second attempt is also unsuccessful, a third free attempt is allowed. A full 100% refund is only available if all three attempts fail to capture the Northern Lights.
Free retry tours are subject to availability and must be booked in advance. If a guest is unable to attend a second or third attempt for personal reasons, it will be considered a voluntary waiver, and no refund will be issued.
Due to long waiting times and late-night conditions, this tour is not recommended for children under 10 years old. Any early departure for children or family-related reasons will be considered a voluntary cancellation and is not refundable.
The company shall not be liable for cancellation, route changes, delays, or early termination caused by force majeure or events beyond the company’s reasonable control, including but not limited to extreme weather, road closures, traffic accidents, vehicle malfunction, acts of authorities, safety risks, or any other situation where continuing the tour would be unsafe or impractical. Such situations do not qualify for a refund.
Guests must acknowledge that this tour involves prolonged outdoor exposure to Arctic winter conditions, including cold temperatures, darkness, and extended waiting periods. Participants must be physically and mentally fit to take part and accept all associated risks.
This agreement constitutes a legally binding contract between the guest and the company. It may be used as valid evidence in any refund dispute, chargeback request, complaint, arbitration, or court proceeding.
